Synopsis

Metabolism is central to most biological processes that impact health and disease, from subcellular organelles to whole body homeostasis. Correct metabolic rewiring drives development and maintenance of tissues, whereas metabolic dysfunction is a factor in key issues that affect worldwide populations such as aging, cancer and metabolic diseases. Despite the huge advances in metabolism research, key questions need answering to translate our knowledge into impactful solutions, such as: 1. How do complex tissue metabolic microenvironments affect normal function? 2. How does metabolism drive aging and reduce healthspan? 3. How can diet affect therapeutic responses to disease? 4. Can we use new technologies to model metabolism in silico to aid drug discovery? This meeting will tackle these questions by bringing together researchers from different areas of biology, epidemiology, drug discovery and computation into a setting that fosters idea exchange and collaboration.

Key Sessions

  • Developmental and stem cell metabolism
  • Aging metabolism
  • Systemic metabolism in health and disease
  • Organellar metabolism
  • Metabolic drug discovery and dietary interventions
  • Technology development
  • Computational and AI-based approaches to study metabolism
  • Metabolites as signaling and structural molecules

Target Audience

The meeting will appeal to scientists from all career levels in academia and industry, from graduate students to institute directors. The shared goal of attendees will be to develop new approaches and collaborations that drive forward our knowledge of metabolism across all scales and throughout lifespan.

Educational Need

Most metabolism meetings are siloed into individual topics or take place as a small part of a larger conference, or are focused on a specific disease area. This intimate meeting has the major goal to bring together metabolism researchers across the spectrum, from those investigating individual molecules to those carrying out population studies and clinical trials. This unique goal will facilitate knowledge exchange and collaborations between world leaders in molecular biology, technology development, animal models, AI and drug pipelines, while also bringing in new voices from younger researchers.

Grants

Please see below opportunities to help offset the cost of attending.

We hope to release additional grants later following fundraising efforts. If you are interested in future opportunities, please check in with this page frequently for the most up-to-date information. Alternatively, sign-up for updates (using the bell icon above) to be notified should additional grants be released.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the Conference Manager, Chloe.

Registration Grants (Closed)

We're delighted to release additional registration grants* to help offset attendance costs. These grants are at a value of €500 and are open to new registrants at all career levels (with the exception of Invited Speakers), but priority will be given to those chosen to present, and early career candidates.

To apply please email the conference manager, Chloe Trundle. Your application should include your name, organisation, career level, an abstract for poster consideration, and a short summary answering the below questions (no more than 50-100 words per question).

•   What cutting edge aspects of your work will you share at the meeting?
•   Why do you require financial support to attend?
•   How will attending this meeting benefit your research and career?

Please structure your application into one document (preferably .doc), starting with the above application criteria, followed by your abstract.

Application Deadline: 13 July 2026

*Registration Grants are available for new registrations only and can be applied towards either 'Single' or 'Shared' registration rates. Unfortunately, they cannot be used against our discounted 'Student' rate, for industry places or by our Invited Speakers.

ECR Grants (Closed)

Thanks to the generosity of our speakers, we have been able to create several ECR grants. Two different award values are available, €500 or €1,000 and these have been set aside for early career researchers. If you are a student, postdoc or junior faculty (within 3 years of your position), you are eligible. To apply please email the conference manager, Chloe Trundle.

Your application should include your name, organisation, career level, an abstract for talk or poster consideration, and a short summary answering the below questions (no more than 50-100 words per question).

•   What cutting edge aspects of your work will you share at the meeting?
•   Why do you require financial support to attend?
•   How will attending this meeting benefit your research and career?

Please structure your application into one document (preferably .doc), starting with the above application criteria, followed by your abstract.

Applications will be considered as they are submitted so although there is no application deadline, we recommend applying early to avoid disappointment as we only have a limited number of ECR grants available. If you are interested in presenting a poster, please ensure your abstract and ECR grant application are submitted no later than midnight (UK time) on 13 July 2026.

Note: we appreciate research may advance and new data may become available between the abstract deadline and the conference commencing. If you are chosen to present, and need to update your abstract later to reflect such changes, you are welcome to do so. Attendees can manage their submissions through their Fusion account.

*Unfortunately, all current ECR grants have been awarded. However, we hope to release additional grants later following fundraising efforts. If you are interested in future opportuinities, please sign up for updates to be the first to know about new opportunities.

Dolce CampoReal Lisboa

The Dolce CampoReal Lisboa is nestled in the scenic region of Torres Vedras, just 30minutes from the city of Lisbon. Set among the rolling hills and vineyards in the countryside, the hotel offers a focused and peaceful environment for conference sessions, whilst still only a short drive away from the hustle and bustle of the city, so attendees can take advantage of all Lisbon has to offer during free time.

The venue has modern, flexible meeting spaces, and due to its smaller size, we are able to offer group dining experiences on each of the conference days, so ideas can continue to be exchanged in a relaxed and informal setting after sessions conclude. For those who need or wish to travel with family, a dedicated kids club and family friendly activities ensure you can balance both work and play.

Outside of sessions, the hotel itself boasts a golf course, tennis courts and wellness facilities for both relaxation and recreation, and the surrounding area is perfect for scenic hikes or nature walks. With the venue nestled in one of Portugal’s renowned wine regions, delegates often enjoy visiting local vineyards for a wine tasting experience during free time.

The blend of both professional and personal experiences make it the perfect setting to reconnect with colleagues, relax with family, and fuel productive conversations to drive research forward.

The Portuguese capital is constantly recognised as one of the greatest cities in the world, a claim confirmed by the “Lonely Planet Guides", who named Lisbon one of the world’s top 10 cities. Lisbon in one of the world’s oldest cities, predating the likes of London, Rome and Paris by hundreds of years. Hillsides covered in tumbledown houses and a mix of baroque and neoclassical buildings, including cathedrals and palaces, make up Lisbon’s skyline. The city is a combination of old and new, with beautiful modern buildings constructed near renovated historical landmarks and ruins.
