We are aware that some of you have expressed concerns regarding recent media coverage relating to security in parts of Mexico, including Quintana Roo. We want to provide clear reassurance ahead of your travel.
Our conferences are being held at SLS Playa Mujeres, a gated resort, located north of Cancun. This area is distinct from downtown zones and operates with two controlled access points and private security presence. No one is allowed to enter the complex without authorisation. It is widely regarded as one of the more secure and quieter resort areas in the region.
Current Situation
- Cancun International Airport is operating normally. There are no current delays or disruptions.
- Major resort areas, including Playa Mujeres, continue to function as usual.
- There are no specific advisories impacting travel to our venue location.
- Our venue maintains 24-hour on-site security.
- Local authorities maintain visible security presence throughout resort zones.
- The Fusion team are onsite at the hotel, along with many delegates for our first meeting here at SLS, everything is very calm here and we all feel very safe.
- Schools, business, pharmacies, shops etc in this area are all operating as normal.
- As with many international destinations, isolated incidents reported in the media typically occur outside tourist resort communities and are not directed at visitors or private events.
- Travel advisories re 'taking shelter' have been removed.
- Quintana Roo (the location we are in), has been removed from all travel advisories as of 24 February 2026 and no longer forms part of the security alert of the US Embassy & Consulates in Mexico.
Additional Measures in Place
- Security has been reinforced within and outside of the hotel complex, for added reassurance and safety.
- We are in direct communication with senior hotel management and their security team and will monitor official advisories continuously.
- We have contingency protocols in place should any guidance change.
Travel Guidance
- We strongly recommend you pre-book airport transfers in advance of arrival with a reputable provider. If you haven't already done so, we recommend Amstar or Tropical Elite Travel.
- Follow standard international travel precautions.
Your safety and wellbeing remain our top priority, and we would not proceed with the conference if we had any indication that guest safety was compromised.
Should you have specific concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Managing Director, Laura (laura@fusion-conferences.com) directly. We look forward to welcoming you to our conferences over the next few days, wishing you all safe travels.
