Molecular and cellular mechanisms of aging are the main contributors to age-related decline, frailty, diseases and multimorbidity. The contributions of these aging mechanisms vary between different types of organisms, cell types and tissues, but they are conserved over large evolutionary distances and genetic, lifestyle and pharmacological interventions can ameliorate their effects. These findings have led to the geroscience approach, which aims to develop broad-spectrum preventative defences against age-related impairments, by targeting their main risk factor, aging. Important current challenges in the field are (1) to assess the roles of somatic mutation and impaired genes expression, (2) to understand the origins of the highly damaging age-related increase in inflammation, (3) to specify the multiple interactions between organs that combine to produce age-related impairments, (4) to better understand interactions within cells that lead to decline in their function, (5) to evaluate the promise and challenges of regenerative interventions and cellular reprogramming.
This fifth meeting will explore these topics, with particular emphasis on new knowledge and its potential for translation into benefits to human health during aging.

Scientists at all career stages and working in contexts across academia and industry who are doing or may in the future do work to understand the aging process and ways in which its effects on health at later ages can be ameliorated.
The meeting will present and discuss cutting edge work on several mechanisms of aging and the promise and challenges of translating them into interventions to improve human health during aging.

We are excited to be visiting this beautiful Mediterranean destination in autumn 2025 – the Hilton Malta in St Julian’s, Malta. The oceanfront resort overlooks the stunning Portomaso Marina in St. Julian’s.
This beautiful hotel is located only 15 minutes from the ancient capital city of Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Megaliths, medieval dungeons and Calypso’s Cave – The Maltese Islands are positively mythic. As the countryside is dotted with medieval towers, wayside chapels and the oldest known human structures in the world, the Islands have rightly been described as an open-air museum.
This is not an all-inclusive property, but we have arranged a full food and beverage package for delegates during the conference period which is included within the registration fee. Breakfast will be at leisure each morning, but participants will dine together for conference lunches and dinners. For anyone staying any extra nights, the rate will be bed and breakfast only so delegates can choose whether to dine at the hotel or explore and eat elsewhere.

The hotel is approximately 20 minutes from Malta International Airport, the official airport of the Maltese Islands.
Taxis are available outside the airport, however we would strongly recommend you use one of the transport app providers below.
There are 3 options for booking transport with an app- Uber, Bolt and eCabs. They all operate in and around Malta, and the fares are generally cheaper than a taxi. The cost of transfers between Malta International Airport and the city of St Julians generally ranges from €15 to €20.

We have several oral opportunities available at this meeting. To be considered for a talk, please register for the conference and upload your abstract when prompted to do so. You will be able to monitor the status of your abstract through your Fusion account and you will also receive an email if you are successful or unsuccessful.
Please use the abstract template provided (see below) and ensure your abstract is no longer than one page in length.
If you are accepted for a talk, we recommend you check our website regularly as the conference approaches. Regular programme updates will be released under the ‘Programme’ tab on the conference website.
On the day of your presentation please make yourself known to our AV technician who will be present in the conference room. We advise running through your presentation at least 30minutes prior to your session commencing to ensure your slides and any videos or animations appear as expected. We prefer our speakers to run their presentation from the master PC or Mac, however, if you prefer to use your own laptop then please notify us prior to the session. A HDMI or VGA cable is usually available on the podium.
Our AV technician will apply your microphone and provide a combined slide advancer and laser pointer.
We ask all speakers to adhere to their time slots and respect their fellow presenters. A visual traffic light aide will be available to warn presenters as their time decreases.
Please make sure your presentation adheres to the following guidelines.

Your poster will remain on display for the duration of the conference, allowing presenters to take advantage of the refreshment breaks and free time for valuable networking opportunities, in addition to the official poster session.
Please check the programme and note the date and time of the poster session(s). Your poster will be judged during the poster session and prizes will be awarded at the Gala Dinner.
Posters will be taken down by the Fusion team and will be ready for collection at the Fusion desk on the final day of the conference.
